The Le Boeuf Brothers—saxophonist Remy Le Boeuf and pianist Pascal Le Boeuf—are GRAMMY-winning musicians with distinct voices in modern jazz. Together, alongside a stellar ensemble of longtime collaborators, they’ve formed one of the most compelling creative partnerships in the genre. Their sixth album, Off Center, follows HUSH (2023) and features the same core members: tenor saxophonist Dayna Stephens, bassist Linda May Han Oh, and drummer Christian Euman.
On Off Center, the group leans into spontaneity and elasticity, allowing the music to stretch beyond its written form. “We’ve known each other a long time,” Remy says, “and have taken this music to some creatively adventurous places on the road. We wanted to capture that magic in the studio.” The result is a set of compositions that highlight trust, interplay, and a shared sense of risk.
That trust is rooted in history. The brothers first met bassist Linda May Han Oh in 2004 in New York, later reconnecting as peers at the Manhattan School of Music. Dayna Stephens, a fellow Californian, has collaborated with the group since 2006, while drummer Christian Euman—now a central voice in the band—has worked with the brothers for over a decade on a range of intricate compositional projects.
The title track “Off Center” has multiple meanings. Pascal explains “the composition is about feeling off-balance, and stretches harmonically and rhythmically in different directions to reflect this. The music tries to trick the ear. It also refers to the artistic search for the unconventional. ”
Both Remy and Pascal are at the top of their game as composers, having won GRAMMY Awards for “Best Instrumental Composition” in consecutive years. Pascal was recognized in 2025 for his hybrid jazz/classical collaboration with Akropolis Reed Quintet and Christian Euman, while Remy received the honor in 2026 for his work with the Nordkraft Big Band and vocalist Danielle Wertz. Their music reflects a shared commitment to versatility and collaboration across artistic communities. Pascal explains, “We’re in a great position as artists to bring people together––to create works that help us learn and grow as human beings and to share in the joys of collaboration.”
As Remy puts it, “things don’t always go where you expect, but that unpredictability is part of what makes it feel alive.” Pascal adds, “we’re always trying to surprise each other—reaching for something off center.”
